4 Important Things To Know Before You Go Buy A Blender

Checking out some of the information in blender reviews can be a huge help before you go out and purchase that new blender for your home.  Through our research we’ve found four important things to know before you lay down your hard earned cash.

1.       Your blender should match your lifestyle.  There are 3 major types of blenders – standard countertop blenders, personal blenders, and hand blenders.  Standard blenders are what you typically see in most homes.  They feature large glass jars that sit on top of powerful engine bases.  Most of these have multiple features and can blend difficult ingredients like big chunks of ice.

Personal blenders are smaller than standard jug blenders, and are meant to serve just one person.  They usually come with a variety of different cups which are placed on the base where you can blend the ingredients.  You can then take the cup with you to go.  Personal blenders are really convenient.

Hand blenders can be moved around the kitchen and stuck in boiling pots of hot soup.  They are long, like a stick, and fit easily in the palm of your hand.  These are great tools to have around the kitchen.

2.       The features and specs of each blender are very important.  There are many different features that you’ll find with each blender.  Generally the most important ones are the level of power in the engine, the number of speeds, and the jar capacity.

Power varies greatly on blenders, going from 250 watts to over 1380 watts or 2 horsepower.  You want to be sure you get a blender that has enough power if you plan on blending some tougher ingredients – like a peanut butter smoothie.

Blenders also come in many speeds, from 1 to 11.  If you’re blending a simple smoothie, one speed may be enough, but if you’re blending salsa or grinding coffee beans, you will need more.

Jar capacity is also important.  You will need a large jar if you have a big family, whereas if it’s just you, then a small personal blender will do the trick.

3.       You need to look at consumer reviews.  You won’t know if a blender has a high failure rate until you start looking at owner reviews.  This is the best way to tell if a blender is high quality or not.  Most reviews will disclose whether there are leaks or engine failures, or whether the blender is excellent and long lasting.
